# Assignment — Lab D · Variability, distributions and sequence (student instructions) · FinE Investment Planning G2.2 v0.7 (Early Release)

**File:** the HTML file your instructor attached (Assessment version for graded work). Copy your export before closing the tab.
**Parameter set:** __________ (e.g., PS-D1, ADOPTED v1.0). **Client:** Casey (fictional), who says temporary drops make them uncomfortable.
**Submit:** one **Full provenance report** export, copied at the very end (step 7). The full report contains the median, the frequency-table counts and the other values this assignment asks about.

> **Order matters.** Changing the calculation menu or the parameter set clears the sensitivity table. Make the sequence sensitivity table your **last calculation** and do not change the calculation or parameter set after step 5.

| Step | What to do | Activity |
|---|---|---|
| 1. Calculate | Mean; sample SD; population SD; "Describe the series" (its headline is the **range**; the card also shows the median, the sorted series and the frequency table) | D-1, D-2 |
| 2. Extension (only if assigned) | "Arithmetic − geometric gap" (the card shows the exact gap and the half-variance approximation) | D-4 |
| 3. Verify by another method | In "Model output to compare with", choose the mean, an SD or the range, and type **your own value for that same measure** in "Your result". In **Method**, write how you got it (e.g., `=STDEV.S`, or `=MAX − MIN` for the range). You may also check the median with `=MEDIAN` and report it in Method — but do not type the median into "Your result" when the selected output is the range | V-1 |
| 4. Critique | The assigned item (AIC-D1, D2 or D3): name the single error and the correct reasoning | AI-1 |
| 5. Sequence and one changed assumption (last calculation) | Choose "Sequence of returns: ending value in two orders" and press **Calculate**. In the sensitivity table choose **"Level contribution each period"** and enter two rows: your set's contribution and **0**. *PS-D2 already uses a contribution of 0: enter 0 and 1,000 (1,000 is your STUDENT ASSUMPTION)*. Do not change the calculation or set after this step | D-3 |
| 6. Interpret and explain | Which SD did you choose and why? What does an SD of this series tell you, and what does it NOT tell you? Describe the distribution (range, median, negative periods, frequency table) without probability language. When can the order of returns change the ending value, and what did your two sensitivity rows show? Then a plain-language explanation for Casey and a short technical note | D-1 to D-3, K-1 |
| 7. Submit | Choose **Full provenance report**, press **Copy export text** (in the Practice file: **Copy learning record**), and submit the copied export using the instructor-designated submission method (e.g., an LMS, course page, or secure instructor-approved channel). Check that the median, the bin counts and the sensitivity rows appear | — |
